Setting up Netscape 6, 7, and Mozilla

NOTE: Because there are several interface differences among the releases of Netscape 6, and because the layout and even the graphical appearance of the browser may be customized by the user, your copy of the browser may provide screens that look different from the following examples — but the functions available should be the same.

Open Netscape 6, 7, or Mozilla. Click on Tasks. Then click on Mail.

If this is your first time using Netscape 6, you may need to set up a new account; click HERE to see the screens for setting up a new account.

If you have used Netscape 6 before, you will be presented with the following screens.

Locate the account name for your ETI incoming mail account in the column on the left. Highlight it, then click on "View settings for this account" on the right-hand side..

If you do not see an account listed for your ETI account in the left-hand column, click the button at bottom left that says: "New Account."

If your ETI account is already listed in the left-hand column, click HERE to follow the steps for updating an existing account.

Or, if you prefer, click on Edit, then Mail/News Account Settings.

The first item, ISP or email provider, should be selected. Click Next.

Enter your name (not "Your Name") and your e-mail address (not "username@eticomm.net") in the lines provided. Click Next.

The type of incoming server should be set to POP. If it is not set to POP, make the necessary change by filling in the appropriate radio button. (You may be presented with a pull-down menu instead; if this occurs, select POP from the choices in the list.) Enter pop3.eticomm.net in the Server Name field. Click Next.

Enter your username (not "username"). Click Next.

Enter a label to identify this group of settings in the Account Settings window. If your email address appears here, that will be fine, but you can change this item to any label that will help you identify this group of settings. Click Next.

Congratulations, you have now finished setting up a new account. Click Finish to go back to the Accounts Settings window.

To update an existing POP account

On the right hand side, enter your given name and e-mail address in the spaces provided on the right.

Netscape 6: Confirm that the Server Name that appears grayed out on this screen says pop3.eticomm.net. If it does not, you will need to create a new account by clicking on the "New Account" button underneath the left-hand column. Then click HERE to step through the new account wizard.

Netscape 7 and Mozilla: Make sure that the Server Name entered is pop3.eticomm.net. If it isn't, correct it here.

Now, click on the item called "Outgoing (SMTP) Servers" on the left-hand side.

Enter the server name mail.eticomm.net on the right-hand side (if you are a Comcast customer, please use the Comcast server here and not the ETI server). Make sure that your username is not entered in the space on the right.
